ABAC TO CLOSE CAMPUS FOR ELECTRICAL REPAIR ON DECEMBER 19

TIFTON--In order to allow ample time to install a key piece of high voltage equipment, Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College will close for the holidays at 3 p.m. on Dec. 19, 2008 and reopen at 8 a.m. on Jan. 5, 2009.

ABAC President David Bridges said a high voltage electrical switch gear must be replaced.

“It can only be done during a campus closure because the central plant will be without power during the period of replacement, resulting in no heating, cooling or hot water anywhere on campus,” Bridges said.  “Portions of the campus will be totally without electrical power.”

To prepare for this campus closure and switch gear replacement, all personnel have been asked to shut down their computers, printers, and any office equipment that could be damaged due to unstable electrical power by Dec. 19 at 3 p.m.

Students will be able to check their fall term grades on the ABAC web site prior to Dec. 19 but not during the time of electrical maintenance.  The ABAC web site at www.abac.edu will be up and running as long as power to Conger Hall is available.

Spring semester classes begin on Jan. 12.  For more information about the spring term, contact the enrollment services office at (229) 391-5004.
